How to raise a feminist boy

When the #metoo movement spread across the world, the repercussions were felt everywhere from Hollywood to our primary schools. It was public and loud, which meant that many children were exposed to what was happening, and parents were needing to explain what was behind all the news.

Psychologist Bobbi Wegner found herself explaining equality and inappropriate behaviour to her young son, who had heard a news report on the radio while she was cooking. It made her realise that it’s important to teach boys about feminism early. Her book is called Raising Feminist Boys, How to talk with your child about gender, consent and empathy. Bobbi explains how we can raise our boys to be allies and contribute to equality between the sexes.
