Jamie Oliver shares gorgeous new family photos in emotional post
Jamie and wife Jools are mum and dad to 17-year-old Poppy, 15-year-old Daisy, nine-year-old Petal, eight-year-old Buddy and two-year-old River. The family have been going through it lately, as Jamie’s restaurant chain was placed in receivership.
Tough times at Chez Oliver
Back in May, 25 of his company’s restaurants across the UK went into administration, with around 1,000 people losing their jobs at very short notice.
Jamie said he was“devastated” and “deeply saddened” noting that he didn’t know why things had ended this way. He’d poured $25 million of his personal funds into his chain recently, in an effort to keep it afloat, but it was obviously throwing good money after bad.
Experts blamed a changing restaurant scene, stiff competition and the rise of Instagram (and it’s picture-perfect food) as contributing factors.
“Solidarity and respect”
At challenging times, it’s close friends and family that matter most, and Jamie’s paid tribute to his family on Instagram in a sweet Father’s Day post. He uploaded an album of photos showing his own early life, as well as his early days with his kids and a more recent photo of his gang too.
“Big love to all you Dads out there that doing your very best to bring up and love the next generation, it’s never an easy job and today is always a nice opportunity to show some dad solidarity and respect,” Jamie captioned the album.
“Some Dads we are lucky enough to still have in our lives and sadly some Dads we have lost which is very sad, so I’m sending lotsa love to all you guys whatever your situation and thinking of them today.”
Tipping his hat to his own father – who was a huge influence on Jamie’s career choice – he noted he was raised lovingly by a “kind”dad.
“I’d personally like to take this opportunity to thank my dad aka “Big Tell “ “Trevor” – I have been so lucky to have a strong, kind, loving dad who gave me so many nice memories growing up, he let follow my heart where ever I wanted to go, thank you dad I love you so much your the best ! And you’re now a wonderful grandad!”
