Excuse me, but EVERYONE has been saying “Kardashian” wrong all this time

A video posted to Twitter recently shed light on four interesting Kardashian points. The first is that Kourtney and Kim Kardashian were freaking adorable when they were little.

Wait, whut?

The second is that Kim was always the boss. The third is that these girls were always destined to hatch a beauty empire and the fourth is that we don’t know how to say Kardashian.

“June 24th, 1984,” we hear the late Robert Kardashian Senior say as he points a video camera at his daughters. “And there’s Kimberly Kardashian with her beautiful mascara. And there’s Kourtney Kardashian with her beautiful mascara and eye-shadow on.”

When the girls’ dad says their name he doesn’t say “Kar-dash-eee-unn” as we are all won’t to do. He says “Kar-dash-ann” dropping that long “eee” sound altogether.

Listen to the clip below and you’ll see what we’re talking about.

That is incorrect!

So have we been saying this famous name wrong all this time? Surely we have because Robert Kardashian most certainly knew how to pronounce his own surname!

It’s probable that the Kardashians adopted the elongated pronunciation of their name that’s in use now because that’s how people assumed it was pronounced.

It’s a thing

Indeed, it’s not the first time a mispronounced surname has become the norm.

Chrissy Teigen admitted that everyone has been saying her surname wrong forever recently. It’s actually “Tie-gan” but has morphed into “Tee-gan” because that’s the pronunciation that the media and general public adopted.

“Word!” Chrissy confirmed to a fan who asked about the pronunciation. “Gave up a long time ago. Last name is tie-gen, not tee-gen.”

“I don’t correct people, ever. They can call me Janet and I won’t. Wrong order? I’ll eat it. Taxi going to the wrong airport? I’ll change my flight.”

We. Are. Shook.
