Matilda, by Roald Dahl
It’s been almost 30 years since Matilda was first published, but this story of the super-nerd child-prodigy just never gets old. Troubled by her self-centered parents and a bulldozing principal, Matilda seeks solice with her teacher Miss Honey (was there ever a more wonderful teacher in the history of literature?), and of course, deliciously terrible trouble ensues. Roald Dahl just had the knack for writing about diabolical adults, and kick-ass kids.
