These are mum-of-three Duchess Kate’s very favourite (very affordable) sneakers
The few glimpses we’ve caught of the Duchess of Cambridge off duty have proven that she’s a jeans and sneakers kind of gal – and the kicks she favours are surprisingly affordable.
Keeping it simple
Perhaps you’ve spotted Kate wearing a pair of sparkling white Superga Cotu Sneakers? They’re surprisingly reasonably priced, retailing at under $100 locally (The Iconic retails them at $90) They also come in a whole bunch of classic colours.
Kate’s sneaker fave has been on the market for close to a hundred years. They were first released in 1925 and sales have apparently doubled since Kate wore them on her and Prince William’s royal tour of Canada in October 2016.
She was seen wearing them again at the 2017 London Marathon and then in GQ magazine for a royal family feature.

Following in Diana’s footsteps
While Kate has made them a bit of an off-duty uniform, it’s interesting to note that Princess Diana also wore Superga Cotus, a good 20 years before the Duchess.
“Photos of Diana show the princess visiting Angola in January 1997 wearing the same Superga sneakers in navy (the brand has been around since 1911)” Footwear News explains and they’re spot on.
You can see Diana giving a powerful speech about eradicating land mines in the clip below. She just happens to be wearing navy Superga kicks.
