Peeved granny uses hairdryer as a speeding ‘radar gun’ to protect the kiddies
A granny fed up with drivers speeding down her street has taken matters into her own hands. And we couldn’t love her more.
Slow down, ya jerks
Armed with a cool beverage in one hand and a hairdryer in the other, the grandmother, Patti Baumgartner, came up with the hilarious idea to give racey drivers a scare:

Looks like a radar gun
Perched comfortably in her outdoor chair, with a ‘don’t mess with me’ expression on her face, Patti points her hairdryer ‘gun’ (which when speeding, probably looks like a police radar gun) at drivers in an attempt to the slow them down.
The granny says she’s been worried for a while now for the safety of not only her visiting grandkids but the other kids in the neighbourhood because people like to race down her street.
“There are a lot of people that are complaining that they can’t walk or ride their bikes,” Patti told her local news station, KPAX. “I wouldn’t even attempt riding a bike around,” she added.
Chatting to her son, Tim, about the issue, Patti devised a plan.
“We were talking about maybe something would slow the cars down,” she explains. “So, we decided to put me in a chair, and I guess use the hair dryer as a speed thing.”
A speed thing!
Patti clearly isn’t a sit around a do nothing kinda woman.
As a concerned resident of South Finley Point in Polson, Montana, Patti decided this was a brilliant idea and took action. Her son also took a photo.
He shared the pic of his mum ‘patrolling’ her street on twitter, and it’s gotten A LOT of love.
The viral image has even been shared by Montana State Highway Patrol Trooper Noah Pesola, who tells KPAX he thought it was “hilarious”.
“I think that we have a speed issue in Montana, and I thought it was a great creative idea for the public to try and combat that a little bit without making people too upset,” he adds.
Now I just wish Patti would come and sit with her hairdryer ‘speed thing’ outside my son’s school.
