Easy lunch box friendly muesli balls recipe
Do the kids love bliss ball snacks? An awesome bliss ball alternative, muesli balls contain no nuts, making it safe to to take into nut-free zones and put an end to bliss ball cravings.
My love for pepitas and dried cranberries know no bounds, so naturally, they made their way into this stellar muesli balls recipe, but you of course, swap them out for your favourite dried fruits and seeds. The tahini brings to the recipe a beautiful nutty taste, without using actual nuts, which I think we will all agree is a win!

Muesli balls ingredients
- 160g medjool dates, pitted and chopped
- 3 tbs of boiling water
- ¼ cup tahini
- 2 tbs coconut oil, melted
- 1 cup puffed rice
- 1 cup traditional rolled oats
- ¼ cup pepitas
- ¼ cup sunflower seeds
- ½ cup desiccated coconut
- ¼ cup chopped dried cranberries
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Method
- In a food processor, blitz the chopped dates together with three tablespoons of boiling water until it forms a smooth texture. Add the tahini and melted coconut oil. Blend until a thick, smooth paste forms.
- Add all remaining ingredients to a large mixing bowl.
- Give the dry ingredients a quick mix and add the date mixture. Mix until combined.
- Roll tablespoons of mixture into balls, placing them on a lined tray. It will be sticky, I recommend using clean, damp hands to roll the balls. Put in the fridge to chill and set for half an hour before devouring.
Notes
- This recipe makes around 30 muesli balls. Keep in an airtight container in the fridge or alternatively, freeze them to pop straight into the lunch box in the morning.
