Duchess Meghan is spearheading a new initiative to help women return to the workforce and with the release of details on this program comes some brand new Meg pics!

A force for change

Announcing that Meghan had been undertaking “quiet visits” to non-profit Smart Works “over the last year” the Sussex Royal Instagram account explained.

“The Duchess was moved by the impactful work being done by this non profit organisation that helps women into the workforce, equipping them with both the skills and clothes they need to feel job-ready.”

So while Meghan’s been criticised for not working enough over the last year, it turns out that she’s not only grown a baby and given birth (hard work in itself!) she’s also been toiling away on this secret project.

And working on guest editing Vogue. Phew!

Several photos of Meg were shared alongside this announcement, tracking her baby bump through to what looks like the end of her third trimester. (See those below!)

It’s clear that – despite what critics have asserted – she was actually working right up until Archie’s birth. And they have the photos to prove it! Take that trolls!

Meghan’s time at Smart Works made her aware that the clothing donated to the organisation was not really appropriate for women undertaking interviews or returning to work.

So she promptly joined forces with four fashion brands to help design and create more stylish workwear essentials for the women Smart Works supports.

John Lewis, Marks and Spencer, Misha Nonoo and Jigsaw are all on board to create garments which support Smartworks.

Spotlight on: Smart Works We are proud to be supporting a very special initiative this autumn for @SmartWorksCharity! After quiet visits to Smartworks over the last year, The Duchess was moved by the impactful work being done by this non profit organisation that helps women into the workforce, equipping them with both the skills and clothes they need to feel job-ready. Throughout her visits she noticed that while the donations were plentiful, they were also notably a combination of mismatched items and colours which weren’t always the right stylistic choices or sizes that didn’t necessarily “suit” the job at hand: to make a woman feel confident and inspired as she walked into her job interview. As a result, launching this autumn, The Duchess will be supporting a collective to help equip the women of Smart Works with the key workwear essentials they need as they enter into the workplace. This initiative is supported by four generous brands who share the vision to empower the women of Smart Works to look and feel 💯 as they bravely venture in to what can often be a daunting environment for those who have been out of the job market. The brands have come together to work towards this united force for good, “[reframing] the idea of charity as community,” as The Duchess writes in a piece for this month’s British Vogue. They will follow the 1:1 model where an item from the collection purchased is an item shared with a woman of Smart Works because “not only does this allow us to be part of each other’s story; it reminds us we are in it together.” For more information on how you can be part of another woman’s success story visit @smartworkscharity. Special thanks to: @JohnLewisandPartners, @MarksandSpencer, @MishaNonoo, @InsideJigsaw for supporting this very special organisation. And to find out more, read the September issue of @BritishVogue and stay tuned for more exciting updates this autumn. Photo©️SussexRoyal

One for you, one for Smart Works

The brands “will follow the 1:1 model where an item from the collection purchased is an item shared with a woman of Smart Works because not only does this allow us to be part of each other’s story; it reminds us we are in it together,” Meghan explained, writing about her work with Smart Works in Vogue.

Royal fans were delighted to share this news – and find out what Meg’s been up to.

“Bam!! Enough with the speeches and the smiles… here comes concrete action!! Bravo!” one posted.

“I love that Meghan is not just sitting back and looking pretty. She knows what an opportunity she has to make a difference and is going all out. Her and Harry are the ultimate power couple,” someone else commented on Instagram.

“This is awesome! I love getting behind the scenes footage of her in action,” another fan wrote.

“You can’t question Meghan’s work ethic and motivation to really make a difference,” someone else said.
