8 warning signs you should never ignore when pregnant
Now this post isn’t intended to alarm anyone, but if you’re pregnant you may be wondering what symptoms require you to pick up the phone and call your doctor immediately, and which can wait until your next prenatal check up.
While lots of the niggles and discomfort you may be experiencing right now are just par for the course of growing a new life, here are eight things you need to seek medical attention for if they happen to you.
2. Contractions early in the third trimester
While contractions could be Braxton-Hicks, also known as ‘false labour’, they can also be a sign of preterm labour. Braxton-Hicks are unpredictable, non-rhythmic, and do not increase in intensity, whereas preterm labour contractions are more regular and about 10 minutes apart or less. They also increase in intensity.
If you’re in your third trimester and think you’re having contractions, call your doctor right away. If it is too early for your baby to be born, your doctor may be able to delay labour.
