Why parents with kids at home are not ‘teachers’

It’s only just begun, but some parents are already struggling with educating their children at home.

Many are juggling work and trying to keep their children up-to-date with online school lessons.

Professor of Education at the Gonski Institute for Education at the University of NSW, Pasi Sahlberg says that we should not use the description ‘home schooling’.

Pasi says that parents are not teachers, and that this is an opportunity for parents to get creative with their understanding of what learning involves.
