We all want to know where we have come from. For sister-authors Belinda Murrell and Kate Forsyth, they knew their family’s history from tales handed down from one story-telling generation to another. But then one day they decided to document the full history of their great-great-great-great-grandmother; the woman who wrote Australia’s first children’s book.

Searching for Charlotte is the resulting book the sisters wrote together, including one research trip to England accompanied by their own daughters. Belinda and Kate talk about the experience of working together, and the story of their extraordinary family.
