Everyone wants their children to have friends, but when is it reasonable to expect them to have a special pal?

Liesel Murphy is an educator at Gumnut Gardens in Sydney.

She looks after children in the years before they start ‘big school’ and is constantly observing and helping to facilitate friendships.

Liesel talks about how children under five typically socialise, and how we can help them form friendships of their own.
