It’s easy to be stupidly nostalgic about toddlers once your kids are grown, but as my children move into teen-hood I find myself wistfully eyeing off those harried young mums herding toddlers. Worse still, I find myself wanting to say that MOST ANNOYING of sentences: ‘Enjoy it, they grow so fast.’
While there are a lot of things to love about holidays, a long stint in the car with small children doesn’t rank high on the list. But unless you live within walking distance to all your friends and family (I wish!), Christmas car trips are pretty much unavoidable.
Of course, the pav takes pride of place on most family Christmas tables. That’s a given. It doesn’t mean you can’t let a little bit of freaking adorable reindeer muscle in on the big day too, though!
The feeling of being completely out of my depth that I had when I first became a parent thankfully dissipated when I birthed my second child. Instead of feeling like I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, I felt rather seasoned and experienced.
