As baby bumps grow, so do the comments, stares and sometimes even touches. The fascination with blooming bellies is enduring, so it’s no wonder that pregnancy timelapse videos are flavour of the month.
And here’s a new one that puts a very unique spin on them. Los Angeles film-maker Joe Penna – also known as YouTuber MysteryGuitarMan – and wife Sarah Evershed spent 10 months making their clever stop-motion clip. In it, Sarah drives a cardboard cut-out car when she gets a flat tyre. Joe comes to the rescue with a pump, which then inflates and deflates his wife’s tummy as the pregnancy progresses. Eventually and with cartoonish flair, the belly bursts and out comes baby Jonah – and off drives the family.
The video must have taken extraordinary patience and precision, to be sure they were standing in the right spots every time. Even moving house couldn’t stop the couple their project through – the new tenants of their rental property let them keep the set in their garage so they could come back to finish filming. It does look like it was a ton of fun to make.
Joe and Sarah’s is just one of a number of amazing time-lapse videos posted online by talented parents recording their pregnancies. I love this one, posted by Grant Nielsen and showing putting together a nursery to prepare for the arrival of baby Desmond.
Or this sweet one, with dad Tom Fletcher serenading his partner with a self-composed song every day over the nine months.
And this couple, showing the passage of time through various holidays (I particularly like the nursery set-up part):
This one has a little more chaos, thanks to the inclusion of the couple’s toddler daughter:
Finally, props to this couple for having such fun getting ready for their new arrival:
You might remember back in August we told you about the Vine video that captured a whole pregnancy in six seconds.
