Rock star Ronnie Wood is about to become a dad again at the age of 68 – and this time it’s twins!
The Rolling Stones rocker is expecting twins with wife Sally Humphries, 37.
A spokesperson for the Rolling Stones confirmed the news, with the babies due in June 2016. “Needless to say, they are thrilled and overjoyed with the wonderful news,” the spokesperson says.
It will be the couple’s first children together. Wood already has four adult children from two previous marriages.
The news sees Wood join a growing club, with many celebrity dads hearing the pitter-patter of little feet at the age other men are thinking about retirement and the arrival of grandchildren.
Wood’s bandmate Mick Jagger fathered a child with a woman he had a fling with back in 1999, when he was 56, Babble reports.
The old rockers are not the only late bloomers, with Star Wars filmmaker George Lucas becoming a dad to a baby girl named Everest at 69 and comedian and actor Steve Martin also welcoming a daughter – his first child – at 67.
Robert DeNiro was 68 when he became a dad for the fifth time and Michael Douglas and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones had their second child together when Douglas was 58.
Rom com star Hugh Grant became a first-time dad at 51 and father-of-eight Rod Stewart had his youngest when he was 66, only months before his first grandchild was born.
And Italian opera singer Luciano Pavarotti became a dad to a girl, Alice, when he was 68 . He died in 2007 when Alice was four.
On the flip side, Halle Berry became a mum for the first time at 41 and then fell pregnant again at 46. Other celebrity mums to have babies their 40s include Tina Fey, Games of Thrones’ Lina Headey, Kelly Preston and Gina Davis.
