Kim and Kanye had to use a new gestational carrier for baby number 4
Last week we brought you the news that Kim and Kanye are now more than halfway to West’s hoped-for count of seven children.
Baby number four
This week more details on the gestational carrier they’re using for baby number four have emerged. The pair’s next baby – reportedly a little boy – is due in May and join siblings five-year-old North, three-year-old Saint and almost one-year-old Chicago.
While details were patchy when the news first broke, we wondered if the couple would use the woman who carried and gave birth to baby Chicago for their fourth child.
La’Reina Haynes acted as gestational carrier for Chicago and Kim and Kanye could not speak highly enough of their experience with her.
“Our surrogate is such a nice person,” Kim said on Keeping Up With The Kardashians last year. “My family absolutely loves her and I’m just so grateful.”

“This is beautiful”
Chicago was the second child La’Reina had carried for another couple. She told Kim and family that helping others add to their families was incredibly meaningful to her and that her first experience as a gestational carrier made her want to do it all over again.
“I love babies, it was nice for me to hold [the first surrogate baby girl] I loved holding her,” she said.
“But I know what my job is in all of it. It makes me feel important because I’m like, ‘Wow, I did something so good. This is beautiful. I would do this again a thousand more times.”
“Kim picked a new surrogate”
It’s been revealed that as much as the Kardashian-Wests adore La’Reina, the timing for this pregnancy was a little out. A report on E!News explained why.
“Kim and Kanye are using a different surrogate than the surrogate they worked with for Chicago’s birth,” the outlet says.
“An insider tells us that the original surrogate that carried Chicago got pregnant on her own and Kim picked a new surrogate over the summer.”
La’Reina apparently gave birth to her own third child just before Christmas.
The safest choice
Kim’s pregnancies with her first two children – Saint and North – led to life-threatening preeclampsia and placenta accreta with her doctor advising her against carrying any further children herself.
Keen to grow their family and add more of their own biological children, the couple took the gestational carrier route and Chicago was born in January with help from La’Reina.
The couple apparently had one more male embryo in storage, and it’s thought that this new carrier is pregnant with that little boy.
