Triplets of Copenhagen mum, Maria, had us gulping when she shared images of her enormous ballooning baby bump in the lead up to her trio of babies being born. We were amazed then at what her body had achieved, growing three little humans at once.

Well now her bubs are here and while making all of ovaries ache by sharing their cuteness, Maria is also getting all real about her postpartum body on Insta. And now we think she’s even more incredible.

Have a look.

Welcome babies!

Maria and her husband, Anders, welcomed baby Iben, Agnes and Filip into the world on September 13.

October 15, 2018 – Today was my original due date! ? Of course it was never an option to go to 40 weeks once we found out there were triplets. Imagine me having these three inside my belly! ??? ⠀ We celebrated the day by removing Iben’s feeding tube, which means that we are now officially released from the hospital. ?????? ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #triplets #tripletmom #tripletsofinstagram

Here’s a pic of them on the day they were born! Awww.

And another more recent one, just because it’s CUTE!

Before the big day

Amazingly, Maria carried her babies to 35 weeks, before having them born via a c-section. Before their delivery though, Maria shared some images of her progressing pregnancy.

The astonishing bump watch pics made our jaws drop and reminded us just how incredible a woman’s body is to be able to grow a baby, let alone three, from scratch.

Then Maria shared one last image of her pregnancy, taken two days before the birth – woah! Talk about ready to burst!

Postpartum honesty

As if Maria isn’t incredible enough for growing three babies, and having to literally lift her belly with her hands when she rolled over in her sleep, she is now being brutally honest about what a triplet pregnancy postpartum body really looks like.

Have a look. The first image is of Maria one week postpartum and the second is four weeks after birth.

#postpartumbody ⠀ 4 weeks after the birth of my triplets. ?????? ⠀ I still have a weird looking hanging belly, and I am a bit surprised it has not gotten smaller since my last picture three weeks ago. Kind of disappointing I must admit, and I am not too happy to share this picture. On the positive side the c-section scar doesn’t hurt anymore, and in the last two days I’ve almost felt like myself again! Except for this heavy sagging belly that is. ? I’ve been waiting for some belly bands that were shipped from the US several weeks ago, and they will finally arrive tomorrow. Can’t wait to try them on and see if they have any effect! ⠀ ⠀ #triplets #postpartum #impatient

“I now have a really weird looking hanging belly”

In the one week postpartum pic, Maria, says her sagging belly is “quite heavy”.

“My uterus has not shrinked back yet. Because my belly was so stretched it takes longer than usual.”

Then three weeks later she took another pic, writing:

“I still have a weird looking hanging belly, and I am a bit surprised it has not gotten smaller since my last picture three weeks ago. Kind of disappointing I must admit, and I am not too happy to share this picture.”

“You are beautiful and amazing!”

While Maria admitted to feeling a bit down about her body, her followers were quick to shower her in love and remind her what an incredible feat her body has achieved.

“You look absolutely beautiful you really do! Your body has produced three babies in one go! It was pretty hard for me having one! Salute you! Time will change everything as it always does! I just hope you are getting some ? sleep!” said one.

Another wrote, “Thank you for being so honest and brave! Lots of Love and respect from Germany! ❤️?”

“Guuuurl I had that after just one bubba!” added another.

Friday was a big day: we got to bring our babies home after 9 days at the NICU! ? We are on a so called «early home stay», which means that we get visits from a nurse twice a week who weighs the babies and brings the supplies we need for tube feeding. And when the tubes are out, we are officially out as well. ⠀ We are so grateful for the nurses at Hvidovre Neonatal (NICU) who have helped us so far, they really are the sweetest people. ❤️ My husband and I think it is amazing that we have been able to stay in a room with the triplets since day 1. It really has helped with the bonding and getting the routines going for the transition back home. ?????? ⠀ ⠀ #triplets #tripletsofinstagram #tripletmom #breastfeeding #hospitallife #nicu #neonatal #hvidovrehospital #bornat35weeks2days

Give yourself time

While Maria says her c-scar doesn’t hurt anymore, she’s hoping the belly band she’s ordered from the US will arrive soon and provide her middle with some support.

“Can’t wait to try them on and see if they have any effect!” she says.

In the meantime, we hope this incredible mama of four (yes, she has a toddler too!) is being kind to herself and getting what sleep she can.

What a journey and we look forward to sharing more of Maria’s updates with you as her triplets grow.
