Homeland star Claire Danes just revealed she is pregnant, expecting a brand new baby in just a few short months.
“I’m seriously preggo”
Claire and husband Hugh Dancy (who is best known for his role in Hannibal) are already parents to five-year-old Cyrus, and she revealed she’s not far off her third trimester and has been keeping … mum!
Speaking to Howard Stern, Claire spilled, “I am pregnant! I’m seriously preggo. I’m deep into my second trimester.”
“I haven’t told anyone, you are the first person I told,” she told Howard.
His follow-up question regarding the baby’s gender was met with “I’m going to keep that to myself” which is possibly what she would have liked to do with her entire pregnancy – but duty called and bumps speak for themselves.

“I would make a lousy stay-at-home mom”
Claire met fellow actor Hugh in 2006, on the set of a film called Evening. They got engaged in early 2009 and married later that year, in France. The family live together in New York.
In 2003, she told Elle that she’d always been fairly clear on where motherhood would fit into her life, but was a little spooked at the idea of actually diving in.
“I’ve always wanted to have kids, but I’m glad I didn’t until now. When I was thinking about [working and being a mother] originally, I was really nervous about it. I think I would make a lousy stay-at-home mom. It just wouldn’t suit me. I feel so fortunate, in that I’ve had this arrow-straight focus that I wanted to act.”
Claire says finding the right person to share her life with has helped everything else fall into place.
“Hugh was just the right partner for me. I got very, very lucky,” she explained to US Weekly. “There’s only so much credit you can take when it just sort of works, you know? And obviously we work hard at maintaining our relationship — that is central to both our lives — but at the same time, it’s just this kind of ease that I can’t really account for.”
“There’s no off button”
“Being a mom is incredibly challenging,” she told Harpers Bazaar. “But, we still feel a pressure to talk about it in very romantic terms. We all have that resentment at times and anxiety about being trapped by the role, that responsibility.”
“And, then chemically it can run riot, and there’s no ‘off’ button. That was the hardest adjustment. You always feel beholden to somebody. And, for so long they’re like koala bears, you just feel a physical responsibility to be there for them to cling to. It’s pretty primal.”
We look forward to hearing more about this baby-on-the-way. Huge congratulations to Claire and Hugh!
