Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma welcome their first child together via home birth
Beloved Lizzy McGuire star Hilary Duff has given birth to her second child, the first for her boyfriend Matthew Koma.
At last!
After going quiet on Instagram for a couple of days, then teasing followers with some footage of Matthew captioned ‘Dad’ Hilary has finally shared what we knew was true – that she’s given birth to a baby girl.
What we didn’t realise was that Hilary was planning a home birth, which she revealed was the case in her Instagram birth announcement’s caption.
“Banks Violet Bair,” she posted alongside an image of her and Matthew with their wee bub.
“This little bit has fully stolen our hearts! She joined our world at home on Thursday afternoon and is absolute magic.”
Matthew posted a similar update saying he was on “Cloud Ten”.
“Banks Violet Bair /// 10.25.18 /// We welcome a beautiful daughter, little sister, and best friend for life,” Matthew wrote. “Could not possibly be more grateful for our growing family and for the ? [peach] who makes it all possible. Cloud ten.”
Banks has a big brother at the ready as Hilary is already mum to a six-year-old boy named Luca. (Luca’s dad is Hil’s former husband Mike Comrie).

Pregnant for 5 years?
Hilary’s followers were relieved and delighted to hear this lovely baby news – and told her so.
“Awwww, welcome to the world little Banks! This is precious, as is she,” one posted.
“Ahh you had a homebirth? That makes me love you even more, congrats!! She’s beautiful!!” another posted.
“Good lord finally thank you Lizzy,” someone else quipped, “It felt like you were pregnant for 5 years!” And we totally understand.
Last week Hilary was fed up and puffed up, ready to evict her baby girl and get on with life as a mum-of-two. The week before she was trying to induce labour with a famous and magical salad (it didn’t work!)
And this week? This week she’s snuggling up to her newborn and getting used to life as a family of four. How gorgeous.
Huge congratulations to Hilary, Matthew and Luca! We can’t wait to hear more about the meaning behind Banks’ name.
