An amazing woman just gave birth to her own granddaughter, acting as a gestational carrier for her son and his husband.

All of the love stories!

Photographer Ariel Panowicz shared a series of photos from an amazing birth she attended and it’s shed light on a few brilliant love stories along the way.

The first is that of Matthew Eledge and Elliot Dougherty, a married couple who very much wanted to have a family.

The second is between Matthew and his 61-year-old mother Cecile who just acted as the gestational carrier for her son and his husband Elliot.

The third is between Elliot and his sister Lea Yribe. Lea provided the egg for the IVF procedure which went on to create her baby niece.

And the final love story is between all of the above – and other friends and family – and newborn baby Uma!

A gestational carrier has another person or couple’s embryo implanted into their uterus so that they can carry that embryo to full gestation and birth the baby on behalf of the other person/persons.

Well, holy smokes, y'all.Little tiny Uma Louise has ventured into this world and let me tell you, she is simply…

A special family

Matthew told CNN that while their story seems unusual, it made perfect sense to everyone involved.

“When you are gay and married and want to have a kid, you go into it with knowledge that you are going to have to create a family in a special way,” the new dad said. “There are creative, unique ways to build a family.”

Matthew’s sperm was used to fertilise his sister-in-law Lea’s egg and then his mum was implanted with the embryo that would become baby Uma.

Teeny and beautiful Uma Louise arrived last Monday morning at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

“Such an immense amount of love”

Uma’s first moments with her family were captured by photographer Ariel who shared them with her Facebook followers. She was as touched as the rest of us about the baby’s super-special beginnings … and how surrounded by love this much-anticipated little girl is.

“The strength and poise that [she] demonstrated at 61 years old while giving birth was truly a sight to see,” Arial told Yahoo News. “She was so calm, (literally didn’t make a peep during birth), and had the energy of a true warrior.”

“When Uma finally entered the world, the room was filled with such an immense amount of love, it truly felt like it vibrated off the walls. Almost everyone was in tears. The look that [Cecile] gave her son and son-in-law when they locked eyes with their baby girl for the first time was enough to drain every dang tear from your body.”

“Uma is surrounded by an immense amount of love. Being a part of today was amazing … Cele, you are a warrior. Matthew + Elliot, you’re already the best Dads,” Arial captioned a Facebook album showing Uma’s arrival. “This is family. This is selflessness. This is acceptance. This is love. Can’t wait to watch you all grow.”
