For little girls born in 2018 the trends were similar – with traditional, short-and-sweet and a touch of royalty thrown in for good measure.

Three-lettered girls’ names were hugely popular with Zoe, Ava, Mia, Ivy and Eva on the top 100 list.
Names beginning with ‘A’ were hugely popular for little girls. Alexandra, Aurora, Alyssa, Annabelle, Ariana, Anna, Alexis, Ayla, Abigail, Alice, Audrey, Aria, Ava and Amelia all featuring on the Births, Deaths and Marriages list.
There was also a trend for floral and nature-related names names for little girls with Rose, Jasmine, Violet, Poppy, Daisy, Lily, Ivy, Summer and Hazel emerging as firm favourites.
Celebrity baby names made the list for girls too with Luna (the name of Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s daughter), Willow (the name of The Bachelor’s Sam and Snez’s baby) AND Olive and Frankie (the names of Drew Barrymore’s daughters) making the grade.
