It’s nearly time for Santa to find out which children have been naughty and nice this year. But he won’t have to try too hard – all he needs to do is look at their names. That’s according to a new study that claims to have found the “naughtiest” and “nicest” boys’ and girls’ names.
And if you’ve called your son Joseph, Cameron or William, we’ve got bad news – you may have a little terror on your hands. Likewise, girls named Ella, Bethany and Eleanor are likely to be a handful, according to the study of more than 63,000 children.
Metro UK reports that the research, commissioned by a company that creates online stickers that teachers award to students, looked at good behavior awards and which names they’d been allocated to. So, not overly scientific.
But in case you’re wondering, the naughtiest boys’ names were Joseph, Cameron, William, Jake, Joshua, Jamie, Lewis, Benjamin, Ethan and Luke.
The naughtiest girls were Ella, Bethany, Eleanor, Olivia, Laura, Holly, Courtney, Amber, Caitlin and Jade.
On the other hand, if your son is called Jacob, Daniel, Thomas, James, Adam, Harry, Samuel, Jack, Oliver or Ryan, you’re in luck – they topped the list of nice boys.
And Amy, Georgia, Emma, Charlotte, Grace, Sophie, Abigail, Hannah, Emily and Alice were the best-behaved girls.
Some people say they’ve been put off certain names after meeting children with those monikers – maybe there is something to that theory after all!
Do you agree with this study? Are there are any names you’ve struck off your list?
