How to deal with the mean kid in your life
Children spend a lot of time in their own world. Whether it’s at daycare or primary school, it’s hard to know what’s always going on. So when your kid says another kid was mean, often after a bit of investigation, you find out that it was either a misunderstanding or a one-off event. But sometimes, kids can be deliberately mean. A kick, a shove, name calling – what do you do then?
Dana Kerford is the Founder or U R Strong, an organisation helping children have healthy friendships, and she doesn’t believe that any child is inherently mean – though she knows that some kids can be ‘mean on purpose’. In this interview, she gives us some practical tips on how to help our children deal with them.
