From the moment I saw this neatly packed Portable Doll House from Grimm’s Spiel und Holz, I was sold.
Visions of my children standing at the door nicely holding the straps and looking oh so orderly became an oasis in my reality of misshapen toy-stuffed bags for trips outside the house.
Like all the other products from Grimm’s that we’ve talked about before, the Portable Doll House is wonderfully designed – with enough detail and craftsmanship to make it beautiful, and enough simplicity that there’s lots of room to imagine.
The mobile home comes with a roof, three arcs (bed, cradle, wall), two felt pieces, a cooker, two chairs, a table and shelves. With pieces that fit neatly together and are held in place by a felt cover, the house can easily be transported using two cotton cords.
This ease of transport makes it the perfect toy to take on holidays – or even on shorter trips to the park or to a restaurant. By taking the house out and about, kids are provided with a new stimulus for imagination; what adventures can the travellers have in each new location?
The houses come in three different colour options, and are available in Australia for $121 through Honeybee Toys. There are no dolls included with the mobile home, but these Evi dolls available separately are the perfect size.
