If you looked at these photos and didn’t know a thing about the miniature furniture in them, there is no way you’d believe they’re made of paper. No siree. Definitely not. But they are. And I’m gob smacked at how amazing they look. Introducing May from French blog Mrs Citron! She’s bubbly, creative (dah) and gives you her design stencil for free so you can make some for yourself.
I’ll give you links to local suppliers of the Sonny Angels dolls and shadow boxes at the end of this post but first, the paper furniture. To create them, all you need is a printer, scissors and some glue. No screws or nails. (Are you loving how easy this sounds?)
Again, you’ll need Google (or a French person) to help you understand the document but basically, you’ll find outlines of a table, two chairs, an origami lamp, fan, kitchen unit and a door, all miniature and to the scale of the Sonny Angels.
Then, you simply cut out the furniture, score all folds (make a crease by folding in the correct areas), glue the tabs and close everything up. Voila! And if you muck it up, at least you can print the design unlimited times until you get it right!
A handy tip from May to complete your look is using pieces of wallpaper or home magazine pages to put the finishing touches on your dollhouse. Check out the wall art and floor covering in the image above for ideas. May is a full-time architect (who does her blog in the evenings) so it’s no surprise her design style is amazing.
Now you have your kitchen. And from what I can gather from her website, May will be doing more posts on other rooms soon. So, keep an eye out.
