Cubebots – the eco friendly transforming toy

Wooden toys hold a special spot in our house. Favourites with our children for their simplicity, an added bonus is they can stand up to hard play. Even so, I don’t see many wooden toys for children past the preschool years so I love finding something that kids of all ages can enjoy.

Designer David Weeks has formed a fantastic robot-like character for Cubebots.  With joints and limbs held together via threaded elastic bands, you can twist this character into just about any position you like. I predict hours being spent with Cubebot, forming poses and trying to get him to balance!  When you’re done posing, this little gem forms an unassuming cube – who’d have thought a cube of sustainable cherry wood pieces would transform into an action man?

We’ve featured Weeks’ animal shapes here at Babyology before and the Cubebot could make a superb new addition to your collection! It’s available for pre-order at Areaware for US$35, plus shipping to Australia.
