Hot on the heels of the recent news that Prince George was involved in a less than gentle weekend activity, comes confirmation that the little prince is also trying his hand (or feet, really) at something much more sedate. It’s not all guns and ammo or crown-polishing for this little guy, people!

“The future king will be learning ballet”

“This autumn, the future king will be learning ballet,” Marie Claire writes in a report about wee George laughing in the face of gender stereotypes.

“It has been confirmed that five-year-old George will start ballet lessons at St Thomas’s Battersea, along with new extracurricular activities from swimming to choir.”

Not only will George be taking part in a bit of pirouetting and pas de deux, he’ll be expected to do a blinking brilliant job of it too. The school uses the very proper Royal Academy of Dance syllabus for their littlies and focus on excellence, we’re told.

“Ballet is taught to a very high standard at Thomas’s Battersea,” George’s school website stresses, “and our pupils always achieve 100% success in their examinations.” #NoPressure

These after-school classes known as ‘Extra Ballet’ certainly sound very, very extra. Apparently, there’s a couple of recitals each year, where the little dancers get to perform for parents. Imagine it! All of the tights!

Apart from having a state-of-the-art ballet studio, George’s school has a rooftop playground and offers lessons in ‘understanding the world’, ‘expressive arts and design’ and ‘communication and language’ (or so says The Evening Standard.) It’s also the very same school once attended by model and It Girl Cara Delevingne and singer Florence Welch.

Giddy-up!

Prince George is not the only one taking up a brilliant hobby. Princess Charlotte has been learning to ride horses like her great-grandmother The Queen.

At a palace engagement, Duchess Kate told Paralympic equestrian rider Natasha Baker that Charlotte was taking to riding like a duck to water.

“I asked her how the children were, and she said Charlotte is really enjoying her riding which is great to hear,” Natasha said. “She emphasized that Charlotte has this passion for horses and although she doesn’t echo it, she’ll do her best to champion and encourage it.”

At this stage, there’s no word on baby Prince Louis’ interests, but we’ll be sure to let you know when the royal beans are spilt!
