Super dad saves the day and becomes his daughter’s hero

He’s a super dad who, in one swift move, became his daughter’s hero. Danny Arnold, dressed in a Superman all-in-one costume, walks his daughter to school to save her from worrying about wearing a costume for superheroes day. There were no super powers necessary for this man to save the day, just a dad with a kind heart.

When Phoebe, 3, felt “silly” wearing her Batgirl costume to school, her dad – quick as a flash – threw on a Superman outfit he’d had since Halloween to put her at ease.

“Apparently Batman is for boys,” says the father of two. “Well not if I can help it!”

Mum Claire Phipps turned her fiancé into a reluctant hero by posting a picture of the super pair walking to school in the morning to the Life of Dad Facebook page where it took the internet by storm.

“It was superheroes day at her school and she said she felt silly wearing her costume,” Claire says.

“To make her feel better, he put on his Superman outfit – he had it from a few Halloweens ago – and said she shouldn’t worry or care about what anyone else thinks.”

Claire says Danny told her that as long as she’s having fun and is happy, “that is all that matters”.

Phoebe initially refused to put on her superhero outfit “because she was afraid of being different,” Danny says.

“She said she felt silly. So I put my kit on so she wouldn’t be alone. Our children should never feel silly!

“Too many people these days concern themselves with how other people think about them – even complete strangers. Do whatever makes you smile and live a little.”

The sweet photo and its touching message resonated with thousands of people all over the world.

Lynn Murphy-Slota says the super dad gives the very best advice a parent can give to a child…to just be yourself. “I loved that he wore the entire costume! Now that is a Superman dad!” she writes.

But the man of the hour isn’t about to take all the credit.

“This superhero day thing…being shared everywhere is amazing…but I feel I’m getting all the credit,” Danny says.

“Don’t forget a three-year-old girl put her faith in what her father said. She trusted not to feel silly just because I joined her and told her so.

“She still plucked up courage to do something she initially felt uncomfortable with. My brave lil’ Phoebe.”
