Little girl’s plea for her parents to get along is a must-see for everyone

“I’m not trying to be mean. I just want everyone to be friends.”

This is the message that six-year-old Tiana has for her mum and dad after she observes them fighting over a fallen shoe rack in the garage. Watch as this adorable little girl calmly sits her mother down and tells her something all parents, together, separated or divorced, need to remember.

When Canadian mum Cherish Sherry pressed record on her phone, she didn’t quite expect her daughter to come out with such insightful pearls of wisdom. With her stern words, her hand gestures and her calm voice, Tiana explains how it’s time for her mum and dad to put their differences aside and be friends.

The video, which Cherish uploaded to her Facebook page, has been viewed over 11 million times. The success of her video isn’t just because Tiana is such a sweetheart in her pink pyjamas, but because her message, though simple, is something that is so important.

The impact our fights have on our children is often forgotten in the heat of the moment. But Tiana reminds not only her mum, but the entire world, that children see everything. “I am straight and I am in the middle,” she explains. “I just want everything to be good as possible.”

So, the next time you are furious with your partner, or ex-partner, keep Tiana’s words of wisdom in mind. Take a deep breath and try to get along.

“If I can be nice, then I think all of us can be nice too.”
