The daddy/daughter duo reminding us what being a parent is all about

It happens to almost half of all families – separation – and it’s difficult for every single person involved, including the children. There is no right or wrong way to handle separation, but I think we can all agree that spending time with your child, regardless of the circumstances, is what matters the most.

Michael Worthington, a 29-year-old father from Dallas, Texas, is bringing this important message to people around the world and making quite the impact along the way

There is many a father out there who makes it his mission to be the best dad to his daughter, even if he is no longer with her mother. Michael is certainly one of them. Michael and Asia’s mum split two years ago but he has always insisted on keeping a close relationship with his daughter.

His Instagram account, Icemikeloveasia, is dedicated to showcasing the silly times that he and his daughter, Asia, have together. The dynamic daddy-daughter duo have over 700,000 followers who track the pair’s daily adventures in hair plaiting, tea parties, goofy poses and so much more.

Through their adorable photos and videos (including the one above posted by Upworthy), Michael shares the powerful message on the importance of spending time with your children. And it is a message that has touched millions.

As Michael writes on one of his most popular posts, “In the end, family is what matters. Life is short. Love your family unconditionally, no matter the circumstance”.

ALWAYS remember your “WHY” and that’ll ALWAYS keep you going. 🏃🏼👫

For many families, time spent genuinely enjoying one another’s company is familiar. But for others, it is not.

And through his account, Michael is trying to reach out to the dads who may not have this special bond with their children. To use his words, he wants them to see that a “father figure can change a lot about a girl when she later becomes a woman”.

Michael explains, “We want everyone to know it’s not who you love, but how you love that matters”.

It’s a powerful message and one that we can’t agree with more. Because children deserve love, happiness and laughter, no matter what.

Why do I feel that father’s have no voice? I’ve always felt like that. Meanwhile, I still do the best I can. 👫

In today’s society there is no such thing as the perfect family mould. But it’s up to all of us to give our children the best upbringing that we possibly can, no matter what model we are following.

And Michael and Asia (along with countless other mums and dads who are successfully co-parenting their children) are proving this to us each and every day. For more adorable father-daughter moments, check out these dancing daddy daughter duos and their pop song recreations.
