Beyonce’s mum, Tina Knowles-Lawson, is the proud grandmother to all three Bey-Jay-Z kids; five-year-old Blue Ivy and seven-month-old twins Sir and Rumi. And she’s just shared a few details on these famous babies’ personalities.
“The best blessings”
Tina confirmed what many nanas tell us – that grandparent duties are everything she expected and more, thanks to the double-trouble-double-fun status of the most recent two. She’s totally chuffed.
“It’s amazing. It’s one of the best blessings. Being a grandmother, it’s not like being a mom because you don’t have to have all the responsibility all the time, but they are amazing,” Tina told Us Weekly over the weekend. “This is my first experience around twins, and they’re so different, and their personalities, and they are wonderful.”
Tina said Rumi and Sir have some distinct character traits already, and she seemed throughly entertained by their antics – and amused by young Sir’s resemblance to his dad, rapper Jay-Z.
“The boy has a stare, like a mean mug, like Jay sometimes, which is so cute, and the girl, she’s just so happy all the time and so sweet. They are just adorable!”
Of course, she says this in the most loving way, and who hasn’t looked at their moody baby and quietly shuddered at their expression at one time or another?!
We’ve helpfully included pics of Jay (above and below) so that readers can imagine Sir’s mini-me face with greater ease. The couple are quite keen to protect their kids’ privacy these days.
“The biggest meal”
It seems that the upcoming Christmas holidays are going to be a giant and delicious family affair for music’s first family, and Tina had some relatable thoughts on their end of year get togethers.
“I’m going to cook the biggest meal with everything I know how to cook,” Tina revealed, saying she was excited to reunite with her entire clan this year.
“We’re all going to be together and I cannot wait. It’s really hard to get everyone together these days. It’s becoming harder and harder!”
Best big sister
Of Blue Ivy, granny Tina said she’s really come into her own now that she’s a big sister to Rumi and Sir, taking her role very seriously and enthusiastically.
“[She’s] doing amazing! She’s a big sister and she feeds them and she’s excited. And she feels responsible for them being there because she prayed for them.”
“She’s always picking out cute clothes for them,” US Weekly reported earlier this year. “She’ll run up to see how they’re doing. She’s always checking on them and helping take care of them.”
