Former The OC star Rachel Bilson and her ex-husband Hayden Christensen are proud parents to a five-year-old. While the pair split last year after nine years together, they are now working on co-parenting their daughter Briar.

“Very loud!”

Rachel generally keeps her daughter far from the media spotlight, but last week she chatted a little more about the — very relatable — joys of parenting. In particular, she focused on how contrary preschoolers can be. She also describes her daughter as … LOUD!

“Their voices are just very loud and present,” the Hart of Dixie alum told US Weekly on Thursday.

“She’s really good, though. I’m really lucky [but] there’s that common line of, ‘Well Mommy, if you give me options, I’m going to give you options.’”

“She’s understanding and rebelling, like, ‘I don’t have to do this,'” Rachel continued, explaining that her wee girl is 5 going on 16. Or even “45 sometimes.”

Baby bestie

Rachel says her daughter is pretty much her tiny bestie, but that Briar took some convincing when it came to watching Disney favourites like Frozen and Tangled.

“I’m the one that wants to watch it,” she admitted. “I have tried for so long and she’s like, ‘I don’t want to watch anything with bad guys.’ I’m like, ‘Come on. I need to sing the song.’”

Briar is also into dinosaurs, with a 6-foot-tall stuffed dinosaur at the top of her Christmas list.

“How am I going to get that down the chimney?” Rachel wondered in the US Weekly interview.

Briar’s interests apparently extend to the creative and crafty too.

“My daughter is getting to the age where she is really experimenting with her own style and even coming up with her own designs,” Rachel told People magazine last week.

“When I travel with her, she always brings this fashion designer activity set which keeps her entertained for hours on the ground or in the air!”

Honestly? I had a similar set as a kid and I loved it!!!

Good call, Rach.
