News just in that Princess Charlotte and her mum nipped into a pub over the weekend, an unscheduled royal engagement, but a very relatable one.

When nature calls

It seems that the pair took a diversion off the busy highway because nature called and Charlotte needed the bathroom.

The pub’s punters were absolutely thrilled with this unexpected encounter, while parents loving this very three-year-old turn of events.

“The fourth in line to the throne nipped into The Phoenix in Stockwell to use the ladies after she was caught short while travelling down the notoriously busy A3 trunk road,” the Mail Online reports.

“Regulars and staff were stunned by the visit with one punter joking: ‘It just goes to show that the royals are like any other family. When your kid needs to go to the loo, they got to go!'”

It’s the second time Charlotte and Kate – who is also mum to five-year-old Prince George and baby Prince Louis – have been spotted out and about together ahead of Christmas. They popped up at a special rehearsal of The Nutcracker in London last week on a cute mummy-daughter festive date.

A quick pit-stop

Apparently, a female detective from the Royal Protection Squad inspected and okayed the Phoenix bathrooms … and then Kate and Charlotte trotted in holding hands (after one of their team asked permission from the pub staff.)

The Mail reports that Charlotte was dressed in “black shoes, white tights, blue skirt, with a white blouse and light-blue coat” while Kate wore “patterned blue culottes and a navy blue long-sleeve top.”

Staff and customers got the surprise of their lives when they realised the Royals were in their midst.

“I was sitting in my usual chair and when I looked up I saw Kate Middleton, I mean the Duchess of Cambridge and her daughter Princess Charlotte,” regular Maggie McKinney told the Mail.

“The little kiddie just trotted in with her mum, went to the toilet and then trotted out. They could not have been in the pub for more than ten minutes … They seem very nice, totally normal. Princess Kate was holding her daughter’s hand. Princess Charlotte was just any other little girl.”

“I couldn’t believe it!”

It was quite the sight, from all accounts, with witnesses rubbing their eyes in disbelief.

“I was on my way to the pub when I saw the Duchess of Cambridge getting out of a black Range Rover which was parked on a side road,” one Phoenix customer said. ‘Then her daughter Princess Charlotte got out and they walked to the pub. A man in a suit stood by the side of the car. I couldn’t believe it.”

We’d be pinching ourselves too … Further proof that when you gotta go, you gotta go!
