Sydney label Signature Creations has created a very special baby wrap designed to celebrate much-anticipated babies and provide a pretty backdrop for those precious newborn photos.

Content note: This post discusses miscarriage, stillbirth and infant loss.

The ‘rainbow baby’ wrap

“Our Rainbow Baby Wrap was designed as a tribute to families who have ridden the storms and are now able to see the bright colours of the rainbow with the arrival of their dream baby,” the company says.

The Rainbow Baby Wrap is made from super-soft, lightweight stretch jersey and can be personalised with a baby’s name at no extra cost.

The wrap measures 90cm x 90cm and is printed with a rainbow and the phrase –  “the greater your storm, the brighter your rainbow.”

This gorgeous wrap is designed to be used as a very comfy and cosy swaddle. It can also be laid flat where it transforms from wrap to photo backdrop and captions those first images of the little one.

What is a rainbow baby?

Parents who have lost a baby due to miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or death during infancy and who then go on to have a healthy baby, sometimes refer to that baby as a ‘rainbow baby’.

The rainbow symbolises hope after a storm or turbulent time and talking about their new child in “rainbow” terms may be a way to honour the child they have lost and celebrate what they have.

It may also help parents to work through their grief and the very complex and conflicted feelings that follow losing one baby and then being blessed with another.
