Not since the great Ed Sheeran baby doppelgänger scandal of early 2017 has a tot hogged headlines, spawned regrams and dominated tweets. Baby John Legend is here everybody, and let’s just say that Chrissy Teigen is kinda over him already. Let us explain…

Play it again, John
Remember when a baby looked exactly like Ed Sheeran and everyone was super excited about it? Well, that scenario is replaying with a new target – this time it’s
Arthur John Legend in the spitting image baby firing line.
It all started when Instagram user Kimmy Rae reposted a throwback photo of her Legend-look-alike baby, Jackson, on the weekend.
People were stoked to see the resemblance and excitedly confirmed her baby was a total SNAP with John.

It might have ended there, but no. Kimmy Rae’s pic was instead speedily reposted to Twitter as delighted fans hit the ground running. Before you know it a viral sensation was born. The internet is like that, right?
Soon, other people were posting their own questionable BabyJohn pics. Some were adults. Many were babies. All were keen to be congratulated on their Legendness.
Much chatter and chortles ensued. Some people even had sordid theories about the baby John Legends. Our favourite was this one:
“Hear me out. John Legend has been secretly impregnating women with his music.”
Seems legit, right?

“John looks like a baby!”
Chrissy Teigen, quite rightly, tired of the #babyjohnlegend nonsense very, very quickly.
Her notifications had obviously been blowing up with Baby Johns all week and she’d been pushed to breaking point. On the 4th of July she issued a solemn statement – via Twitter – clarifying her stance on the whole copycat baby/people/universe situation.
“For the LAST TIME, JOHN looks like a baby so A LOT OF BABIES LOOK LIKE HIM STOP SENDING ME JOHN BABIES,” she wrote.
Gulp. She’s obviously thought this through.

Much sympathy, very shoosh
Chrissy’s followers kindly heeded her plea. Sort of. See below.
“John would have responded to these tweets himself but he had to be put down for a nap before he got cranky,” one wrote.
“I like 2 imagine that ppl send them bcuz they’re genuinely terrified they accidentally gave birth to John Legend and they’re checking w/ u” another theorised.
“Are we 100 percent sure he didn’t get through college by being a anonymous sperm donor to a paying clinic, just asking lol,” someone asked, quite rudely.
Sigh. BabyJohns will be BabyJohns, after all…. We’ll leave you with the following pic of the couple back in the day.
