Pink posted a photo of a very crowded, child-filled couch/mama yesterday and it perfectly captures the juggle and rewards of mum life.
Chaos and contentment
Despite the chaos and piled-upon nature of the shot, Pink’s caption cast first impressions swiftly aside, focusing in on how she felt in that kids-everywhere moment. The singer chose some words she attributed to 13th century Persian poet and scholar, Rumi to explain:
I was dead,
I came alive.
I was tears,
I became laughter.
Love’s wealth arrived,
And I became everlasting fortune.
Relatable and real
Pink’s Instagram shot shows the mum-of-two breastfeeding 2-month-old son, Jameson, with some extra tandem-snuggling from 5-year-old daughter Willow thrown in for good measure.
Everyone looks relaxed, calm – and possibly exhausted. The room around them is lived-in and familiarly dotted with evidence of busy family life.
We’re always fans of these more candid, unstyled celebrity shots.
Not only are they relatable, they give the distinct impression that the high-profile person in question is authentic and committed to portraying parenthood in a sincere and realistic manner. No fake news here.
“Times to treasure”
Pink’s Instagram followers loved the sneak peek into life with this gang.
“This is what it’s all about,” one said. We can hear her nodding through the screen.
“It’s amazing what having children can do to you. They saved my life. It’s such a beautiful thing,” another follower said.
“This photo is so beautiful. So natural. So raw. These are the times to treasure,” another posted.
It’s not the first time Pink’s posted a shot of herself breastfeeding, either. Last year she shared a throwback snap of daughter Willow feeding, in honour of National Breastfeeding Week.
“In honor of #nationalbreastfeedingweek2016 I proudly post this photo of a very HEALTHY, NATURAL act between mother and child. Taken in Helsinki by a very supportive and proud Papa,” the singer posted.
We’re guessing (hoping!) there’s more of the same to come.
