She’s stunning, down-to-earth, elegant and the matriarch behind one of Hollywood’s most beautiful families. And in a recent interview, Eva exposes her private life like never before.
Get a glimpse inside the gorgeous life of one of our favourite celebrity mums, who recently welcomed her second daughter, Amada and experienced a family tragedy that she is still coming to terms with.
There are countless celebrities who make headlines for all the wrong reasons. Eva Mendes is not one of them.
From the moment she gracefully stepped into the Hollywood limelight with her first major role as Denzel Washington’s wife in Training Day (2001), Eva has segregated her professional and personal life allowing her elegance to shine through without overexposing her private life .
It’s not an easy thing to do but Eva and her hubby, Canadian actor Ryan Gosling, make it look effortless.
And, while Eva recently broke her silence in an exclusive tell-all interview with Latina magazine, she remains grounded in her roles both on and off the screen, especially in her most important role to date – being a mum.

Anyone who follows celebrity goss will know that Eva has had a very big year. She welcomed her second daughter, Amada, in April with husband, Ryan Gosling. However, in the midst of a joyous occasion came a tragedy as Eva lost her older brother, Carlos (pictured above) to a battle with cancer.
“Losing my brother brought our family closer, and we were already close to begin with,” Eva explains. His funeral came the same week she had baby Amada. “It was really intense and obviously beyond heart-breaking, but also kind of beautiful.”
As well as Amada, Eva and Ryan are also parents to nearly-two-year-old Esmeralda Amada, who shares a middle name with her little sister’s first name.
“In true Latin fashion, we reuse names all the time,” Eva tells Latina.
Eva’s own mum is also named Eva and her grandmother is named Amada. And while Ryan and Eva tried out different names for their second daughter (including the adorable Viviana), Amada was the only one that truly fit.
Combining her traditional Latina roots with her American upbringing, Eva is all about ensuring she is a good role model for her girls and that they share a bond that Eva shares with her own sisters.
“I think like such a mom now—big picture— as far as what I’m putting out there, not only for my children but for other children.” And it is this new thought process that will drive Eva into each project in the future.
