Justin Timberlake’s #DadLife playgroup photo shows a side to him we rarely see

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake

When JT dropped his 2-year-old off at playgroup on the weekend, the pair obviously got down to some important dad-kid creative brainstorming…

Rare glimpse

While JT and his wife, actor Jessica Biel tend to keep their 2-year-old son Silas away from the prying eyes of the media, they do occasionally provide some insight into how the parenting experience is for them.

Take yesterday for instance. Justin uploaded a winning, kid-tinged selfie that not only offers a glimpse into his life as a dad, it provides a fetching accessorial suggestion. If accessorial is even a word.

The image (above) depicts the singer wearing some rather snazzy glasses, and as you can see they’re the kind that preschoolers fashion – and favour – the most. Justin captioned the photo with an explanation revealing he’d lingered at drop-off and got a little more than he bargained for. He seemed to like that a lot:

“When you’re the only Dad at the mid-morning play-class, if you stay any longer than 20 minutes… THIS IS YOUR FATE. #dadlife” he posted alongside the snazzy spectacle shot.

We really don’t blame him for capturing his on-trend self for posterity. You have to admit that these glasses are kind of awesome. The fact that they make their wearer’s eyes look like they are in different states obviously did not deter this dad-of-one. It’s the journey that matters most, not the destination, FYI.

“The best thing in the world”

Justin and actor Jessica Biel began dating in 2007 and went on to marry in 2012. Silas, was born in April 2015.

The singer recently revealed that those early days of parenting proved more challenging than he’d envisaged.

“At first, it broke me down,” he said. “Those first eight months felt like those old [Ed Sullivan] shows where people are balancing spinning plates on poles — except if you drop one, they die.”

But, as most parents quickly realise, the good bits almost always make up for those trickier times. JT is finding those good bits utterly delightful.

“Watching [Silas] jump around to ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling!’ starting to learn words because of that song — it’s the best thing in the world,” Justin revealed.

Trolls goals

The dad-of-one said his work on the recent animated kids’ blockbuster Trolls came at the right time and was something he hoped Silas could enjoy some day.
“You know, we had our son probably six months before. We were still in that new parent fog and this job came up,” Justin noted in a February interview.
“It just seemed like such a great opportunity — it felt serendipitous in a way. I just said to myself: ‘What an opportunity to have something that even down the road I can share with him.'”
What kid wouldn’t love the surprise of hearing their dad’s voice as they watched an adorable movie unfold on-screen?
