Step Up star Jenna Dewan Tatum has firmly squished the pregnancy chatter that was swirling about the internet earlier in the week, and seemed generously unperturbed that people were staring hopefully at her belly.
Let’s face it, this episode highlights a very common pastime for bored media types – and those scrolling Instagram in the dead of night. A perfectly normal belly very often becomes the target of scrutiny and rumour, when all it’s doing is hanging out and minding its own business.
That’s what happened to Jenna Dewan Tatum’s belly, anyway. In the wake of rampant stomach status speculation, she’s actually come out to thank fans for creepily poring over her body parts. She’s grateful for the kind thoughts they’ve sent to her digestive system. #SoSweet
“Thank you so much for all of your care and well wishes for my food baby and for the fact that I really needed to pee,” Jenna announced via People Magazine. What a time to be alive.
Frocks and trees
The whole thing was apparently started by a) Jenna wearing a floaty dress (how very dare she?!) and b) the Instagram post below where she discussed her first pregnancy.
Jenna: *posts pic of tree*
Followers: “Does this mean you’re prego?” “Does this hint something for your future, another little one perhaps?” “Maybe you’re coming here with baby #2?” “Is this an amazing pregnancy announcement ???? If so CONGRATS!!!”
Jenna: Note to self – No more trees.

I would come hike here every day while pregnant with Everly and rest my back against this tree and pray. (As well as a zillion squats to try and get her to come-mamas you know what I'm saying) Nothing makes me happier or feel more alive than connecting with nature. Nice to see you again magical one 😍
Sorry not sorry
To be fair, Jenna did mention the word “pregnant” in her caption, but she was talking about her previous pregnancy with 4-year-old Everly, not a future tiny Tatum.
“I would come hike here every day while pregnant with Everly and rest my back against this tree and pray. (As well as a zillion squats to try and get her to come-mamas you know what I’m saying),” Jenna wrote alongside an image of a tree at Hampstead Heath in London.
“Nothing makes me happier or feel more alive than connecting with nature. Nice to see you again magical one.”
It’s fair to say that people took that post and ran with it… until Jenna set them straight.
Jenna and husband, actor Channing Tatum, are parents to Everly Elizabeth Maiselle Tatum, born in May 2013. The ridiculously attractive couple actually met on the set of Step Up back in 2005 and went on to marry in 2009.
We’re sure if they DO have another baby down the track, their announcement will be less about trees and more about tots. Just saying.
