“It’s wrong to bring children into the world,” says grown man suing his parents

It might seem like your baby really loves you right now, but don’t get too comfy, mums and dads.

The BBC are reporting that a man is suing his parent because … he didn’t really want to be born and whut?!

The BBC spoke to Indian businessman, Raphael Samuel about his decision to take legal action against his own parents. Mr Samuel believes “that it’s wrong to bring children into the world because they then have to put up with lifelong suffering,” 

He says that “it was not our decision to be born” and suggests our parents should pay us to live. For the rest of our lives. Thus he’s suing his own mum and dad.

Apparently Mr Samuel is a believer in something called ‘antinatalism’ a pessimistic school of thought which suggests that life is a misery and people should stop having children stat.

He says he has felt this way since he was five when his parents could not come up with a satisfying reason for his existence.

“One day I was very frustrated and I didn’t want to go to school but my parents kept asking me to go. So I asked them: ‘Why did you have me?’ And my dad had no answer. I think if he’d been able to answer, maybe I wouldn’t have thought this way.”

Mr Samuel’s set up a Facebook page where he wears a disguise and makes memes about his beliefs.

He originally started off just posting pictures of himself and then moved on to memes that dismissed ambition and ‘the system’. Finally he settled on the theme that having children is a mistake and that’s what he’s pumping memes out about right now.

Looking through his page it’s clear that a) he wants attention, b) he’s pretty into himself, and c) he’s keen to be as provocative and prankster-ish as possible.

The 3000 odd Facebook followers he’s accrued indicates that Mr Samuel’s views aren’t garnering much support, but they’re still bonkers enough to be this week’s ‘Odd Spot’.

“I wish I was not born”

Mr Samuel’s parents are both lawyers and are apparently coping with their litigious son with as much respect and humour as they can muster.

“If Raphael could come up with a rational explanation as to how we could have sought his consent to be born, I will accept my fault,” his mother Kavita told the BBC in a very measured response to this nonsense her son’s ‘lawsuit’.

“Im not really doing this for publicity,” Mr Samuel promised, “but I do want the idea to go public. This simple idea that it’s okay to not have a child.”

“I wish I was not born,” he went on to explain. “But it’s not that I’m unhappy in my life. My life is good, but I’d rather not be here. You know it’s like there’s a nice room, but I don’t want to be in that room.”
