Frolicking family: The young royals share lovely family photo shoot

Prince William and Duchess Kate

News just in: Prince William was recently interviewed by GQ Magazine and, luckily for us, there’s a cute family photo shoot – complete with Duchess Kate, Prince George and Princess Charlotte – to accompany the piece.

Frolicking royals

Kensington Palace, the offical Instagram of William and Kate, uploaded a sample of the latest series overnight and it shows the family in good spirits, cavorting in a meadow. Due out later this week, the interview and pics are part of the young royals’ Heads Together campaign, aimed at breaking down stigmas and raising awareness of mental health conditions.

“As part of the Heads Together campaign, The Duke of Cambridge has been interviewed on mental health for the July edition of British GQ. The interview was conducted by mental health campaigner Alastair Campbell, who shares a common cause to tackle the taboo around mental health,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson explained.

A better place

In the GQ interview, William spoke openly about the sadness of not having his own mother around as he’s raising his children.

“I would like to have had her advice. I would love her to have met Catherine and to have seen the children grow up. It makes me sad that she won’t, that they will never know her,” William said.

As the anniversary of Princess Diana’s death approaches, William revealed he’s started to get more of a handle on coping with grief and discussing her life publicly.

“I am in a better place about it than I have been for a long time, where I can talk about her more openly, talk about her more honestly, and I can remember her better, and publicly talk about her better.

“Happy, stable, secure”

The Prince told GQ he was striving to give his children as normal a life as possible, despite their obvious privilege. He said a steady, stable home life was at the heart of everything.

“I could not do my job without the stability of the family. Stability at home is so important to me. I want to bring up my children in a happy, stable, secure world and that is so important to both of us as parents.”

Speaking of little Prince George, who is third in line to the throne, he expressed his hopes that his son would experience his fair share of real life and regular people.

“I want George to grow up in a real, living environment, I don’t want him growing up behind palace walls, he has to be out there. The media make it harder but I will fight for them to have a normal life,” William said.

Throne-ward bound

If you need to brush up on your succession to the British throne fun facts, here’s the royal story:

2nd in line: Prince William, Duke of Cambridge

3rd in line: Prince George of Cambridge

Amazing that young George is so close to the crown, despite his tender age, no?!
