“Do I let her be sassy?” Pink is all of us trying to work out how to parent

Pink is one celebrity parent who doesn’t sugar coat mum life. She openly tracks her struggles on her social media accounts, and seems pretty committed to normalising the fact that raising kids is awesome and … very, very hard!

China live dim sum class San Francisco. I feel like I had it all figured out when she was younger. When it was just her. Now that there’s two, and such different ages, I feel flustered so much of the time. The older she gets the less clear I am on how to guide her. Do I take the raw honest tough way? Do I cuddle her and tell her to not to worry? Do I let her be sassy knowing I want her to be strong and need her to be strong to survive in this world? Of course, but how do you interject subtlety and kindness? I already know I worry too much, don’t even bother telling me about that. I’m aware. Thoughts?

All figured out?

Pink’s latest post sees her at a temporary crossroads when it comes to raising daughter Willow. As she publicly pondered which direction was the way forward – a position that will be familiar to many parents – she invited followers to weigh in.

“I feel like I had it all figured out when she was younger. When it was just her,” Pink posted on her Instagram account, alongside a photo of her and Willow eating out together. “Now that there’s two, and such different ages, I feel flustered so much of the time. The older she gets, the less clear I am on how to guide her.”

“Do I take the raw honest tough way?” she went on. “Do I cuddle her and tell her not to worry? Do I let her be sassy knowing I want her to be strong to survive in this world? Of course, but how do you interject subtlety and kindness? I already know I worry too much, don’t even bother telling me that. I’m aware. Thoughts?”

Which way?!

Pink is pretty much all of us, when we think we know what we’re doing, only to hit a pothole further down the road.

If only there was some kind of sat-nav system for mums and dads, where you could at least get some rough confirmation that the way you’re going is not going to lead somewhere regrettable.

This relatable mum has two kids with husband Carey Hart – daughter Willow is seven and her toddler son Jameson is 17-months-old.

The family have been travelling together in the US, as the popular pop star takes her Beautiful Trauma tour on the road with kids in tow, and we’re certain the pressure cooker vibe of spending so much time together has provided its own challenges … and insights!

We figure Pink actually has parenting kind of worked out, even though she feels like she’s scrambling – and are fairly sure that every parent is not quite sure they’re doing it right (even though they’re doing it right!)
