Cards Ink – it’s the Threadless of the greeting card world!

Technology and contemporary methods of creating are expanding the English language. The term ‘crowdsourcing’ was coined only three short years ago to describe a company calling for contributions to a project from the public.

Threadless (which we featured in 2007) uses this method for its tees – people submit designs and the most popular are printed on t-shirts which are shipped all over the globe – we received a special shipment of them for my husband in time for Christmas last year. Now the concept has spread and Cards Ink is applying it to card production.

Viewers of the site can vote for favourite cards and those with the most votes go into production and on sale. The designer gets US$100 plus $50 for each reprint run. So you can go there to submit some designs yourself, or perhaps you have a talented small artist residing with you who might like to do the same. Otherwise purchase some groovy cards you won’t see everywhere for just US$3.99 each plus shipping.
