Zoë Foster Blake

Zoë capped off an amazing weekend (which saw husband Hamish whip up the most outstanding birthday cake EVER for the pair’s little boy, Sonny) with a funny and emotional post about what it means to be a mum.

Happy Mum's Day! Mums are so incredible. But how do you know if you're a mum? It’s so hard! Were you gifted a terribly made piece of jewellery, clunky ornament, or new unicorn eraser today? You might be a mum! Did your dinner consist of leftover cheesy pasta from a brightly coloured plate? You might be a mum! Got food/paint/spew/shit on your person that isn’t yours? You might be a mum! Do look at your body with pride because it created life, but also wonder why your nipples insist on staring at your feet all day? You might be a mum! Did you spend today doing something indulgent like 'sleeping in' or 'having breakfast you didn't make' even though you used to do that twice a week? You might be a mum! Did you wear activewear as Proper Clothing more than three times this week? You might be an Instagram model! Or a mum! Do you sometimes hear a small child crying out for you at 2am and wonder what would happen if you didn’t go? You might be a mum! Do you sometimes wonder how you will get through the next 2, 5, 10, 20, 40 years with those little tyrants? You might be a mum! Do you love your children with an intensity that is, quite frankly, terrifying? Like, single-handedly flip a friggen 4WD car to save them, love them? You might be a mum! Are you an oval fleshy fruit which is purple, reddish, or yellow when ripe and contains a flattish pointed stone? You might be a plum! (Still good.)

Turia Pitt

It was Turia Pitt’s very first Mother’s Day, and she marked this special occasion with a “nauseating” blog post about what mum life means to her.

“I’ve written some words about how I’m finding life as a Mum. (WARNING: I talk about love, a lot. It’s saccharine sweet and very nauseating).”

Megan Gale

The ridiculously gorgeous Megan Gale paid tribute to her own mum, as well as kiddos River and Rosie.

“It’s such a blessing and a privilege to have a Mum and be a Mum. Something I never take for granted,” Megan wrote alongside a bunch of gorgeous family photos celebrating this special day.

Mothers Day… fast becoming my favourite day on the calendar. This year is particularly special. It’s not only my first Mothers Day with Rosie but I get to share the day with River as it’s his 4th birthday AND I get to see my Mama as well ☺️❤️ This photo was taken a couple of hours after I gave birth to River. I LOVE this photo – me, as a new, first time Mum, with my Mum by my side. The next photo is a cuddly moment with my little Rosie girl, named after my grandmother and she adds her own special sense of wonderful to the female tribe in our families. It’s such a blessing and a privilege to have a Mum and be a Mum. Something I never take for granted. To all the Mama Bears out there this is your day. Much love to you all 💖💫

Pink

Pop star Pink shared a rare snap of her own mum in an emotional post about their (at times tumultuous) life together.

“One lifetime can feel like a thousand incarnations,” Pink wrote. “We’ve been on this roller coaster together, and at any time we could have chosen to get off. Be done. But love is truly a lifetime of coming back to the table. I celebrate this woman today. I celebrate our decisions to never give up. I love you mama.”

Elsa Pataky

Honourary Australian mum, Elsa Pataky is away from her kids for work at the moment, but her hubby Chris Hemsworth made sure she felt loved and missed on Sunday.

“Those little things that makes you happy!! #mothersday#thankspapa #missingyou #workingmom,” Elsa captioned an image showing a very delicious-looking pastry breakfast and a sweet family photo (apparently courtesy of Chris).

Michelle Obama

Brilliant forever-First-Lady Michelle Obama shared a gorgeous (and very dinky – note the requisite retro thumb across lens!) throwback snap of her own mother and brother, Craig.

“It’s impossible for any picture to truly capture what my mother, Marian, has meant to me. Happy #MothersDay to all of the moms out there, and especially to my own,” she captioned the shot.

Drew Barrymore

Like many of us, Drew gets extra sentimental on Mother’s Day, and this year was no exception. She shared a candid snap of herself with daughters Olive and Frankie.

“I love this picture and carry it everywhere I go,” Drew wrote in her Instagram post. “I carry it in my heart. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY. although everyday is Mother’s Day, it is sure great to celebrate! My olive and my Frankie … you are the loves of my life.”

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman posted a rare glimpse into her family’s life and it involved snacks, craft, wine … and a very interesting horse’s head …

Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson, who is expecting her third child at the moment, posted a joy-filled snap of herself (aged around two) giggling with mum Goldie Hawn.

When you grow up with a smile like this you are raised to find the joy in every moment. Raised to find the laughter in sometimes the most difficult circumstances and raised to share deep connections that fill our hearts with love and all the good things that nurture our soul. I know I feel the kind of freedom to love because of her. I know I feel the kind of strength to live fearlessly because of her. I know that I have never feared paving my own path because of her. I know I feel deeply unconditionally loved because of her. I also know that every mother is capable to give this to their children. She taught me that the love of mothers shape the future. Not through expectations but through love and honoring your children’s individual journey. To my great teacher, Happy Mothers Day. And to all of you other great teacher out there, Happy Mothers Day ❤️

“Happy Mother’s Day to my wonderful wife Chrissy. I see so much of you in Luna and I love it so much. I can’t wait to meet our little boy and to see you give him so much love and get so much love in return. I’m so happy to be on this journey with you.”
