Kristen Bell’s 4-year-old daughter Lincoln loves Frozen’s Elsa so much, she insisted her mum (who plays Anna in the hit Disney flick) ditch her usual character, and dress up as her blue sparkly princess hero instead.
“When your daughter demands you BOTH be ELSA for Halloween,” Kristen posted to Instagram. “You GRIN AND FORKING BEAR IT.”
Bear it she did. The image beside the caption shows Kristen totally Elsa-ed up, albeit a little reluctantly if her side-eye is to be believed.
It’s not hard to see why Kristen – who is mum to daughters Lincoln and 2-year-old Delta with husband Dax Shepard – submitted to this Elsa hazing. As recently as a year ago, her daughter thought Frozen was a pile of nope, refusing to watch the movie even when she was bedridden and her defences down. This latest attitude shift is a huge – and obviously welcome – turnaround.
“I put it on for her, thinking it was going to blow her mind and like 15 minutes in [she] was like, ‘Turn this off, I don’t like this movie.’ She couldn’t care less.” Kristen admitted back in March 2016, post-upsetting first Frozen viewing.
On closer consideration, however, she realised the film was probably just a bit too scary for Lincoln at the time.
“It was too dark, the scene where Anna gets struck and then they go to the trolls and it takes place at night. She’s really sensitive,” Kristen said.
It seems that Lincoln’s grown up a little, and has not only managed to watch Frozen without freaking out, but now loves it – and Elsa – enough to have her own Elsa costume.
And of course she wants her mum to don one, matchy-matchy style, too. #AnnaBeDamned!
“I needed to pump”
Kristen was also in the news earlier this week, after a particularly hilarious appearance on The Ellen Show with A Bad Moms Christmas co-stars Mila Kunis and Kathryn Hahn.
Not only did Kristen generously and earnestly commend a mum on her daughter’s sharp observational skills, after said daughter publicly declared her mum that loved beer and the pub. Her co-stars also revealed she’d accidentally broadcast a breast pumping sesh onto a huge screen, during a group Skype read for the film.
“K-Bell’s just on a giant screen Skyped in,” Mila recalls. “And as we’re reading the script, you see her face just getting closer and closer into the screen, and the rest of her body just keeps kind of like, getting out of the screen … just a giant face!”
“And then you hear this,” Mila says, doing her very best droning breast pump impression.
“I didn’t know I was on a movie projector,” Kristen objected. “I would have loved a heads-up. I was home because I wasn’t going early because I still had a little one, and I needed to pump. I’m sorry. When you gotta do it, you gotta do it.”
“I didn’t realise I was on a 200 inch screen. On speakers. In a conference room!” She laughed.
You gotta do, what you gotta do, indeed!
