Beloved former Freeks and Geeks and Dawson’s Creek star Busy Philipps is mum to two daughters – 10-year-old Birdie and 5-year-old Cricket – and she’s world famous not just for her acting career, but for being a total boss at Elf on the Shelf …
Busy – who has just released her memoir This Will Only Hurt A Little and stars in her own show Busy Tonight – kicked off the holiday season with her two elves peeping out from the branches of her family’s Christmas tree.
“They’re BAAAACCCCCKKKKKK,” she posted and the elf-fancying troops instantly rallied.
“My favorite time of year — your Elves postings!” one fan wrote.
“Yippee! Now the Christmas season has really begun!” another posted.

The next night the elves were whipping up a vigorous game of limbo with a candy cane limbo stick and cast of thousands. Well … a cast of SEVERAL other toys.
“Looks like a wild party!” one follower posted, but others were already fatigued from their own Elf on the Shelf adventures and wanted to know a) if Busy had a nanny who was helping with this project b) how she found the time and c) if she managed to clean up the glitter efficiently.
The elves followed up the limbo with a sweet gift for Busy’s daughters Birdie and Cricket.
“The elves brought advent calendars!” Busy explained alongside a photo of two LOL Surprise Outfit of the Day advent calendars … complete with personalised notes.
“You elves are awesome!” one mum wrote approvingly. “Mine generally don’t move for a week.”
“Ok ur putting our elf to shame, like for real,” another wrote. “Thank god my boys aren’t on IG.”
The elves at Busy’s house then went fishing with some glittery penguins which seems VERY festive to us. But it was when the – very nicely dressed – elves busted out some snow angels that some people began to get a little frosty.
“Is it just me or do they look like they committed suicide by jumping off a building? Sorry! But before I saw you called that snow angels, I thought ‘wtf?’!”
“That’s not snow,” another posted as eleventy-billion others made jokes about “blow angels”.
But ALSO? Lots of people loved this snowy idea and were keen to borrow it for their own elves. Hooray for the spirit of Christmas!
“My kids don’t ever sleep,” one very tired mum posted. “This is doable in the 5 minutes I have each morning. Thank you!”
Busy’s elves then indulged in a little sELF care. (We see what you did there, BP!)
Some impressive acrobatics in front of a gorgeous Christmas tree followed and then the elves got up to a little bit of midnight slime-making on Cricket and Birdie’s behalf.
Next up on the elves to-do list was some much-needed down time … and then some up time in the form of scaling teeny rope ladders handing from a festive and foliage-dotted chandelier.
A late night cocoa and candy party followed … and then a very special screening of Wicked with a bunch of other beloved toys.
What’s totally clear is that Busy Philipps rules the Elf on the Shelf game – and that parents across the globe are screen grabbing her elf scenes in the hopes of not being caught short with their own little mischief makers in future years.
Thank you for the ELFspiration, Busy!
