With those four words as descriptors I’m already sold – because who doesn’t want their child to experience a childhood filled to the brim with all things of that nature? Des Enfantillages make unique and original toys that appeal to both little and big kids.
Des Enfantillages is a collection of wooden kids’ toys, handmade in Montreal by creative design team and parents Geneviève Lugaz and Christian Laforge. Strong believers in slow design, they focus on quality rather than quantity.
Wondering about the name, let alone how to pronounce it? Des Enfantillages is based in Montreal, Canada, and Enfantillages is a French word most often associated with kids that implies a certain lack of maturity. The founders have played on that idea to create products that are first and foremost fun.
If you would love your kids to relive your (or their grandparent’s) childhood, Des Enfantillages provides the opportunity with a fresh and contemporary feel. Their pom pom slingshot has already been eyed off by my little guys. Painted with water based paint and made from Russian Birch ply, the toy is good for hand-eye coordination but the felt balls that it comes with are just asking for untold adventures against alien invaders and target practice to save the world.
Check out Des Enfantillages full range of wooden toys on their website. The balancing game and the memory game (pictured above) would be fantastic for younger kids, while the skipping rope and mini hockey stick appeal to slightly older children.
You can buy direct from Des Enfantillages toys. They are based in Montreal, Canada, but do ship internationally, including Australia, for a small extra cost.
