What stinks?

I’ll never forget sitting in an antenatal class when the midwife told the roomful of soon-to-be parents that a "breastfed, newborn baby’s poo is quite sweet smelling." I’m not sure where she gathered her data because when changing my own babies nappies, ‘sweet’ is not a word that came to mind.

If you have occasional odours in the nursery that aren’t so sweet then the Chikuno Cube could be the thing for you.

A million times nicer to look at and more effective than an open box of bicarb soda and unquestionably safer than striking a match, the Chikuno Cube is designed to absorb and eliminate odours. The Chikuno’s delicate honeycomb of bamboo powder and charcoal creates a large surface area that sucks up all sorts of gases, smells, moisture and other nasties. Every couple of weeks, place the Chikuno outdoors in sunlight to "recharge" it, and you’re good to go again.

While it would make a great addition to the change table set-up, fans of the Chikuno report that it does wonders in the fridge and musty wardrobes. I’m wondering if I should invest now so that I have a few on hand for when my three boys are bigger and leaving stinky runners and sports bags in the corners of their bedrooms?!

Chikuno Cubes are available from Delight for US$28.50 but Delight currently do not ship to Australia. Call your friendly freight forwarder and take comfort in the fact that the cubes are so, so tiny that the parcel will be very, very small and hopefully cheap!
