In October 2009 Spike Jonze’s feature film rendition of Maurice Sendak’s classic story Where the Wild Things Are hits movie theatres worldwide.
The film represents years of work from hundreds of different artists, writers, photographers, musicians, actors and creators. Director Spike Jonze has set up a website known as We Love You So which serves as a portal for many of the influences that have gone into making Where the Wild Things Are a motion picture.
I’m sure that children and parents who love Sendak’s story are eagerly awaiting the Wild Things movie experience; this experience will no doubt be richer by taking a glimpse at what interests the movie’s creators. From the latest book by Dave Eggers, to wild scents, and the tale of the editing room couch, We Love You So is an intriguing read. A word of warning though – set aside a good chunk of time before delving in; the creators take you down so many different paths, it’s easy to get happily lost in their inspiration!
