We felt the need for letters

My fridge holds a motley collection of magnets. Some are gloriously tacky holiday souvenirs and some are advertising local businesses, but none are as lovely (or as educational) as these alphabet magnets from MiChiMa.

MiChiMa has set up a fantastic little felt shop on Etsy. Felt alphabets and numbers, cute little felt creatures, felt magnets and more. I never would have thought I needed a tiny felt magnet of a peanut, but seeing the fine detail in MiChiMa’s work makes them irresistible (and a darn sight prettier to look at than my local electrician’s logo!).

I like the rainbow colours of the alphabet sets, but MiChiMa also makes sets in single colours, upper and lower case, letters and symbols specific to other languages, and even different fonts! The bright colours, blanket-stitched edging and tactile appeal of the padded, three dimensional letters makes a stylish alternative to the plastic alphabet magnets I grew up with.

MiChiMa is based in the US and will ship to Australia for a tiny US$5 Magnetic alphabet sets are US$50 and a peanut magnet will set you back $4.
